Revamping Boulevard's Form Builder

Modernizing a Legacy File Management System

Boulevard's form builder, essential for beauty and wellness professionals, faced significant challenges due to its outdated design. The settings and form builder elements were cramped on a single page, creating an overwhelming experience. Administrators who were building forms struggled with having to scroll endlessly to get a full view of the form they were making. Moreover, the need for manual calculations for the width of form elements and disconnected preview features led to confusion and frustration, disrupting daily operations. The lack of specialized features in the form builder also hindered Boulevard's ability to expand into the Medspa market, compromising user satisfaction and underscoring the urgent need for a modern, user-friendly solution to maintain a competitive edge.

OUTCOME

The redesigned form builder offers a clean, minimalist interface that prioritizes the form-building experince while providing quick access to settings and preview functions. Key updates include intuitive drag-and-drop elements, easy access to industry-specific templates, and seamless desktop and mobile previews—directly addressing the pain points our customers identified. This streamlined experience allows beauty professionals to build forms more efficiently, freeing up their time to focus on what matters most: their clients.

role + PROCESS

I worked closely with a fellow designer and product manager using a phased approach to redesign the form builder. In the first phase, I led usability tests on one of the most requested features: the ability to add notes inside forms. Based on the feedback from this feature, we moved to the second phase, where I conducted audits of the existing form builder, performed a competitive analysis, and interviewed administrators and staff to uncover key pain points. With these insights in hand, I took the lead on the design process, which included wireframing, prototyping, and iterative testing of the form builder. Throughout the project, I emphasized collaboration and user feedback, ensuring we developed a streamlined, efficient solution that met the needs of beauty and wellness professionals.

IMPACT

I unfortunately got laid off right before the designs went live, but parts of my design explorations are fully integrated into Boulevard's platform, have enhanced usability, and streamlined workflows for thousands of beauty and wellness professionals. This has positively impacted their daily operations and contributed to Boulevard's success within the industry.
